Safety and placement

MeiMei helps you keep an ear and an eye on your child. It is not a medical device and it never replaces looking at your child yourself.

MeiMei is not a medical device and is not made for watching over a child who is unwell or needs medical care: such a child needs an adult with them at all times. If your child is struggling to breathe, turns blue or goes limp, call your emergency number.

Where to put the baby unit

  • Mount the baby unit high on a wall or shelf, at least 1 m (3 ft) from the crib or bed.
  • Never put it inside the crib or on its edge.
  • Keep the baby unit and its cable out of your child's reach. Children who sit and stand reach further: mount it higher and farther away than you think you need.
  • For naps, run on battery so there is no cable near the crib.

The placement check

Before every night or nap, MeiMei asks you to confirm the distance and the cable. Both steps are needed before a session can start, on every device.

What MeiMei does not do

MeiMei reports sounds and movement. It does not measure breathing, oxygen or heart rate, and it cannot tell you whether something is wrong. If you are worried, look at your child yourself.

When alerts can be late or missing

  • The baby unit runs out of battery, is switched off or loses Wi-Fi.
  • The parent device is in a mode that silences notifications, or has no connection.
  • The operating system stops the app; MeiMei warns you about the settings that matter on your phone.

MeiMei tells you when the baby unit stops reporting, but it cannot guarantee that every alert arrives.

Observations, never judgements

MeiMei describes what it saw and heard, in plain words. It never names a condition and never tells you whether your child is fine.
