Use a laptop or phone as a baby monitor, in your browser

No app to install and no account. Open MeiMei in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari: a laptop, tablet or phone watches, and your phone or computer gets the alerts. Free.

Start in your browser

Use the devices you have

Baby unit

A phone, a tablet or a laptop with a built-in camera, in your child's room.

Parent device

Your phone, tablet or computer, wherever you are in the house.

Open it on a phone or tablet

Scan this code with the camera to open MeiMei there. On a computer, use the button.

How it works in the browser

  1. Open MeiMei on both devices, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

  2. On the device that stays with your child, choose that it watches the child. On the other, choose parent.

  3. Pair them with the code or the link the baby unit shows, then check the placement.

  4. Watch, listen and get alerts.

What to know about the browser

  • Keep the tab open and the screen on. Watching stops when the tab is in the background, the device locks or a laptop goes to sleep.
  • Without an account, both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi. When signed in, they can be anywhere.
  • Without an account, alerts only reach a tab that is open. When signed in, a parent can switch on alerts for that browser, and they then also reach a background or closed tab through Web Push. On iPhone and iPad this needs iOS 16.4 or newer and MeiMei added to the Home Screen. Switch alerts off in the app, or sign out.
  • The placement check comes first on every device.
  • A laptop used as the baby unit must stay open and plugged in, with its cable out of your child's reach.
  • With a plan, a browser baby unit keeps clips and night history in the browser's own storage, never uploaded. It records only while its tab is open, and the browser may clear that storage.

MeiMei asks for the camera and microphone only on the baby unit. Video and sound go directly between your devices, never through MeiMei's servers.

The phone apps keep watching with the screen off, can tell when the phone is moved, and send alerts to a locked phone.
